The UNESCO Chair of Salerno – Plants for Health in Mediterranean Traditions took part in the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Italian UNESCO Chairs Network (ReCUI), held in Naples on January 22–23, 2026, at the Fondazione Banco di Napoli – Palazzo Ricca.
The 2026 Meeting was dedicated to the UNESCO Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033) and focused on the strategic role of UNESCO Chairs in fostering scientific innovation, cultural diplomacy, and knowledge-based sustainable development policies.
Key topics addressed during the meeting included health, biodiversity, climate change, energy, water, and ecological systems, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and collaborative networking among UNESCO Chairs.
The participation of the UNESCO Chair of Salerno contributed to the discussion on the role of science and Mediterranean traditional knowledge in promoting health, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development, strengthening the dialogue between academic research, local contexts, and institutions.
The Assembly provided a valuable opportunity to share ongoing activities, enhance national coordination, and define common strategies aimed at increasing the international impact of Italian UNESCO Chairs.
