July 18th 2025 – Minerva Garden 2.0 – where History, Architecture, Pharmaceutics and Botany weave together into the Salerno skyline

Salerno UNESCO Chair is proud to announce the re-opening of Minerva Garden, recently restored and extended using innovative technologies and following a massive philological renovation, thanks to Luciano Mauro, co-founder of our UNESCO Chair. From July 18th 2025, Minerva Garden is open to the public daily. The Garden, situated in the ancient city centre, is considered the successor to the historic botanical garden of the University of Salerno. Besides the aesthetic value that the new terracing (740 m²) has added to the environment, featuring a lovely view of the Salerno skyline, new medicinal plants have been acquired and planted. The architectural restoration process comprises lighting and irrigation systems, botanical additions to the garden resulting in a profusion of sights, colours, and fragrances, as well as the maintenance and safety of the paths that allow it to be visited by tourists.   Today, Minerva Garden, due to its fairly unique collection of medicinal herbs and teaching labs, is ready for research and education activities on cultural, preventive and therapeutic practices transmitted by the Medical School of Salerno.
